Aspen Achievement Academy selected as one of the nations top teen drug treatment programs by Drug Strategies
Aspen Achievement Academy has been highlighted as one of the nation's top teen drug treatment providers according to Drug Strategies, a Washington, DC- based research institute, in its recent publication, Treating Teens: A Guide to Adolescent Drug Programs.
The Achievement Academy is one of only three wilderness programs to be listed among 144 exemplary programs around the country in what Drug Strategies calls the "first-ever comprehensive guide to drug treatment programs for teens." "Our program is gratified to be one of the few wilderness-based programs acknowledged for effectiveness in substance abuse treatment," says Gil Hallows, Executive Director of the Utah-based Aspen Achievement Academy.
Operating since 1989, Aspen Achievement Academy has helped thousands of teens and their families find healing and recovery. The comprehensive outdoor behavioral healthcare program integrates intensive therapy and 12 Step work with a healing wilderness experience that produces profound results. Many years of outcome research substantiates the effectiveness of the Achievement Academy approach to treating substance abuse in teens. Aspen Achievement Academy has contracts with numerous employee assistance programs and managed care organizations from around the country.
Treating Teens was developed by the prestigious Drug Strategies with guidance from an advisory panel of 22 nationally-recognized experts, including academics, clinical researchers, treatment providers, and adolescent development specialists. The guide was funded by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and was released at a press conference at the National Press Club on Jan 14, 2003.
